Bayonetta 2 Review

Game review Blog post by K.Delgado

Welcome to my review of the new release; although Nintendo tossed it out a month earlier to Japan, Bayonetta 2. Lately there has been such odd controversy surrounding this game that has Feminist groups either raging against the game or worshiping Bayonetta's strong, sexy style. But I'm not going to get into that because that's already been covered by countless people warring over it.

No I'm here to start reviewing a game of which I love and honestly will tell you all the finer points of it. Everyone knows Bayonetta as a Thumb-Numbing action packed game that tosses you right into the action without some annoying tutorial that chases you around throughout the game. ("Listen! Listen!") No instead it let's you into this very minor tutorial that gives you the basic needs or punch, kick, witch time and dodge before tossing you into the sheer awesomeness of Bayonetta's elaborate battles against heaven's servants the Laguna or the Angels of Paradiso.

What is very apparent and now well known and loved about this game is how the Umbra Witches, Jeanne and Bayonetta have changed their looks. Some people even stating they love the new short hair look which makes Bayonetta reveal more of her rebellious side while others say it makes her just look that much hotter whereas others state that even Jeanne has gone from a 3 out of 10 on the hotness scale to reaching an 8 to even 9.5.

It's revealed though that there are many delightful Easter Eggs to indulge the most loyal Nintendo fans as well as welcome in new comers to the franchise surrounding the titular witch. From Princess Daisy and Peach to even converting to Bayonetta's first game look, the game gives you a mid-sized costume closet to pick your style. My personal favorite being the Umbran Gekka dress.

Now aside from this you also get a growing array of weapons from her new pistols called "Love is Blue" to her inhumanly large hammer, Takemikazuchi. Each new weapon coming with it's own form of what Umbran Climax Bayonetta will use. Also each weapon seems to depict Bayonetta's vastly grown power from the first game to the one out on the Wii-U console.  Including the fact that one demon Bayonetta fought as a boss battle becomes her 'new toy' too.

Then you have the returning characters and even some new faces being brought to the table ranging of course from the Umbran Witches Bayonetta and Jeanne to characters like Luka, Rodin, Enzo and even so far as to bring in people from the past like Bayonetta's own mother Rosa (Who can be unlocked by defeating HARD mode, to be used as a new stand in for the storyline or Tag Climax). There is even the dubbed Mysterious Boy who goes by the name Loki who Bayonetta first actually meets when he was in a flying squirrel form of which she nearly landed on if she didn't do and snap split and catch herself with a single hand.

Now I don't want to reveal too much about the storyline itself for those who have yet to play the game, but let's start by saying with a game like this getting mostly 10/10 and 9.5/10; except for polygon who is known for being Nintendo Biased who gave a 7.5/10... 7.5?! apparently some serious Sony/Microsoft fanboys work there. But otherwise this game is being called a MUST HAVE and is number 7 out of 10 in Amazon.com's top ten games chart even out beating some Playstation 4 and Xbox One games that are releasing at the same time.

Nintendo has also reported in an inflating sale of their Wii-U consoles not just for the Smash Game but with pre-orders for Bayonetta 2 flooding in and rumor has it that they have pre-order sold 62% of their stock which was only a month ago, who knows what it is now! Nintendo was even nice enough for putting the E3 Demo they featured upon revealing more about the game, up for download so that US/UK gamers of her fanbase could at least get a taste of what they were in store for.

And the Demo is outstanding as well as the game, motions are outstanding and many say it works better than the first game. The game is even more intense than the first one going from insane on the epic battle scale to OUTRAGEOUS when the storyline really goes from OMG to OMFG in excitement. The gameplay will leave you breathless even wondering 'my god what just happened' because everything is so fast pace that the combos you need to be racing to plug in will leave your thumb throbbing in numbness begging you for a break.

With all new torture attacks you now have even more gruesome ways to destroy your enemies from a newly designed bear claw, to a treadmill leaving into crushing spikes. There is even a point in the game that brought back some of the classic torture attacks. Bayonetta has even improved in fighting so much she can fully summon her pact demon Madama Butterfly to headbutt enemies and not just use her hands and feet in a fight. There was even a finishing move in which Madama Butterfly is summoned and with a sinister overly excited smile on her face was repeated impaling an angel with his very own blade until smashing it down hard enough to finish off the demon's fun playing 'kill the angel' as well as break down a wall with the force. OUCH!

And a first time ever you can fight a Demon Rodin; yes you heard right, DEMON Rodin. Similar to that like how he was Father Rodin in the first game; the secret boss battle; you can now face him in Inferno where he takes on a large demonic form and you have to beat him. Ooh what fun! The greatest parts though in the game in my opinion are the comedic reliefs you get at points you just need something to make you laugh. From Bayonetta's old stalker ally and informant, Luka faceplanting into a building to punting the poor guy in the butt like a soccer ball.

One thing Bayonetta 2 brings to the table is this new look into Bayonetta herself, remember how in the first game she seemed cold and uncaring? Well in this installment, we began seeing a more down to earth and even more humanly emotion side of Bayonetta, from her caring about Loki's safety to her bond with her best friend Jeanne. Yet still like always we have to have the snarky witch who will always have a joke or two up her sleeve to keep you remembering she's one witty woman.

Strong, sexy and smart is what Bayonetta has been known to be though some can say there isn't as many 'naughty' bit shots in this game as there was in the first installment. Counting in the first game I believe there was 28-40 shots between Bayonetta's crotch, butt or breasts. But this game that camera angle isn't used as much as most times the camera is focused on her face or you are just too busy being distracted by other events going on in the background to care for her booty riding on a multi-legged unicorn demon through hell. Yee-haw!

Even though Bayonetta still gets naked in battle like before she still has enough modesty to cover her intimate areas leaving the player guessing what is under it. Now stop being a pervert and go change you're underwear. I'm talking to you preteen with his hand down his pants. (GLARING).

Anyway the visuals are stunning and the detail is outstanding to a point when it rains you clearly see Bayonetta's back sleek with water and even a point in which Bayonetta is sweating from shock. The hair tends to move on Jeanne like a curtain though but the individual strands are clearly visible showing the level of detail that went into the design. a round of applause for the team behind the works!

Even classic voice actor returned making sure Bayonetta continued with that sexy accent of hers that even her own mother had due to the same voice acting done by Hellena Taylor. Everything seemed to be well planned out in this game and the only issue I wish was addressed is why no secret chapter while playing as Jeanne once she is unlocked telling what she went through when she entered Inferno after 'dying'? I'd also love to maybe have just like unlockable 'mini movies' showing HOW Rosa and Balder met, or even how Jeanne and Bayonetta became friends. But I guess for now we'll leave those ideas to the fanfiction lovers who are writing endless versions of how they think it all happened. oh well... bummer.

What I will say is that I want to know more about Jeanne because sure we know bits and pieces but we know so much about her friend that we need that spin-off Hideki Kamiya keeps saying he wants to do. I say DO IT!

Otherwise I certainly agree with giving this a rare 10/10 not because I'm a fan but for how every detail was planned out so delicately that this game quite literally a prequel and sequel rolled into one. Damn Platinum you score again in my book. Now do us a favor and start on that game for Jeanne will ya? Thanks~.

So if you want a game that takes you into a winding epic world of battles between heaven and hell, pick up Bayonetta 2 and pre-order it because it comes WITH the first game, yes you get 2 for the price of 1. That's a sweet deal if you ask me. When does a pre-order for one game ever give you two? I've never heard of it and if some have heard of it before, it's a rare; RARE happening.

Bayonetta 2 coming to UK/US October 24th 2014 ONLY on the Wii-U

Gamer Rant: WE THE GAMERS!

Gamers are getting tired of Game companies like Ubisoft telling them 'what they like and don't like'. They say this like they own our money; like they determine where we spend our paychecks at. Thing people don't understand is, is that Nintendo's recent Wii-U is where Nintendo is trying to open to a broader audience which is why when 'Bayonetta 2' was about to be scrapped forever they took up funding it to ensure her fans would still have their beloved witch.

Then the worst part is the Sony and Microsoft fanboys call Wii-U a child's console, but what they don't see is that the Wii-U console is in fact cheaper than the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Like the other consoles it can control your TV like a remote, act as a computer and game console. What I don't understand is why everyone falls to one side; one company. The gaming wars were only started because of fanboys who don't see the true pros and cons of ALL consoles.

Example of that is when Microsoft was bringing out their Xbox One, they put all kinds of restrictions on it with the 'No used Games' policy they tried to enforce as well as 24-hr need of the internet to even use the console. The bad part was the "Super Microsoft Fanboys" were willing to fork over $500 for the console not even thinking about the fact that they'd have to buy licenses for used games, the internet they NEEDED and so on. Basically saying that if the Restrictions still stood, Microsoft users would be forking out close to 2-K a year based on Xbox Live, points, games, internet, license buying, fees and so on.

Now Sony isn't going to go untouched, they have their issues too. From the whole Hard Drive filling up thing and so on. The issue I have with the PS4 is that the controller makes your hands fall asleep because of the construction of the device then there is nearly no games thus far that are really worth buying the console let alone playing it. "Remastered Games are coming out though," Yeah they are but why play something if you've already played it on say the PS3 or 360? The thing is the PS4 has games coming out in the next few years that are more worth while and when those come out are more of a reason to get the console otherwise I advise waiting because the longer you wait the more Sony has time to work out 'bugs' and get the console 'near perfect'.

The Wii-U was poorly marketed, the Nintendo President has nearly no public speaking skills when marketing one of their products. I mean the way he markets at times makes me fall asleep during the thing. Bland room, Check. Green screen, check. Bad marketing, double check. Thing is the Wii-U is Nintendo's way to expand to every audience and grow bigger than just the old fashion: Mario, Zelda, SSBB, and so on. They want to get bigger with possible shooters, action, and more. But the thing I see SO MUCH is that everyone THINKS they know the console is bad but it's honestly not, I have one and I love having it because I have so many uses for it. Because of the horrible marketing the Nintendo President did, people were turned off by his monotone voice failing to explain everything about their console. Which is why they are so behind in sales. The only reason things are picking up is because of SSBB, Mario Cart, and new Zelda games as well as this new Pokken game.

Now this leads me into the new thing going on: #OperationPlatinum which is to sell the Bayonetta 2 game at over 1-million copies. Why is this? Ubisoft states Nintendo Users don't like mature games. Wrong Ubisoft; and who are you to tell US who pay YOUR bills by BUYING your games what we like and don't like?! How DARE you Ubisoft. We pay your bills because WE the GAMERS buy your games. If we didn't buy your games your company would end up like THQ; Bankrupted and everyone working there looking for a new job. So to sit there and tell US what WE like is crossing the line. You don't control our money. We technically control you, because without the money WE pay to buy a companies they wouldn't have a job. Consumers are the ones who run the companies because we pay the bills. Without us they would collapse.

I don't know about other people but I don't like being told what I like and don't like. I'm not a slave, I'm not a puppy being yanked on a leash. That's what makes me very F*#@%$^ angry because without people buying their products most companies would never last. Look at many other companies in the past: they produced bad games/consoles and what would happen to them? They would fail, lose everything and be bought out by someone else because they lost everything. So Ubisoft crossed the line by saying what WE THE GAMERS like and don't like.

Dear Ubisoft, I love your games, I mostly like the AC series. You need to really work on Watch Dogs because there was too many glitches and whonky mechanics but do not; DO NOT tell me what I like and don't like. Thank you, Love one of the many paying your bills so we control you. Love you~
